We have been inpatient since Saturday. Mac has had fever and aches and nausea and blood pressure fluctuations - all of which go along with what they call "serum sickness". We just have to get through this, and continue to give him his necessary medications. They try to make him comfortable while it's happening. Hopefully it won't be too much longer. He's been such a trooper and to quote Liz E., "he's my hero"!!

Thank you to all who helped with the Blood Drive at St. Matthew today. Mo reported that it was a huge success - apparently over 100 people actually gave blood (and another 30-50 tried but couldn't for some reason). 84 people became bone marrow donors. That is great! On behalf of sick kids everywhere, I thank you for doing something positive that really helps. Mac is getting platelets transfused as I type. These kids get blood transfused like everyone else gets a snack.

I know Mo has told me every day since he's been back that he feels overwhelmed (but in a good way) with the amount of support everyone is showing. We are so lucky to have so many people care and try to do whatever they can to help. Keep praying, and if you evacuate to Memphis, give us a call!

  1. ha! i got a shout out!! he he!! but anyway....i just have to tell you that today i gave blood for the FIRST time. FIRST TIME i tell you! i have always been so scared to do it. scared i would be uncomfortable, scared i would pass out, just plain ole scared. i did it today for you, mac, and all the people out there who needs it! i know my happy blood will do good for someone in need! i gave blood today with any problem! no passing out, no nothing! and i bet i will do it again!

i also became a registered marrow donor. i will have to check in a few week to see if i was rejected or not....but to think...i could one day save a life....wow. i don't think i have ever done anything that could or would save someone's life!

So thanks MAC! thanks for giving me the courage to do what i did today. i know if you can fight right now with all you have to get better, i can get a needle stick and give blood!

    feel better! go away fever!

  3. Oh Carrs, Yes It's me again that annoying kid who keeps commentting on your blogs. So After being thoroughly told By Mr. Carr (AKA Mo to those who are on a less formal name basis)(I think I am know as Benny through out the Del Vayeah Clan) (I know I spelled it wrong) Well anyway Mr. Mo told me that I need to comment on the blog and when my excuse was I started school Lizzie said So What. I have officailly gotten my priorties straight and Have reluctantley put down my french to comment. Sorry that the meds don;t make you feel well.
When we went to St. Matthew's which is a big church (It was huge from the street) So walking up we saw Peter playing outside with his friend swhich is what I would do too at a blood drive. Oh Wait I think I did go play with them for like 15 minutes (Just Kidding) I wanted to though. So we went In and I had been Texting Lizzie (Who is Barbie's Niece) and She Told me that it was really cold (Which we latter decided was to get people blood flowing and keep the already drawn blood cold) But it was actually pretty cold. So I went In not knowing If I would dbe able to give blood cause I am on 16 and they told me No. But my dad gave blood and my mom, dad, and brother are Bone Marrow Donors. But anyway I went in and sat down next To annie, lizzie, and chris. Chris was waiting to be re-screened and annie and lizzie were eating. (Alright we are now going to get to the part where Chris begins giving blood) So Lizzie, Annie, and I went over to talk to chris who was giving blood and apperentley his blood was not flowing very fast or something. So we went and checked on Ms. Elena Countiss who had followed directions and eaten a good breakfast and was doing fine. SO I went to bathroom which the sinks are so confusing the hot water is it's own fouset and the cold has it;s own, the hot is really close to the bowl on the inside and the cold is far out in the middle. so I turn both on and wet my hand go get some soap and the Cold turned off and the hot is really hard to use cause you have to put your hand like on the side of the bowl. So that was really confusing. So we went back to check on Chris and He had like almost fainted and then Peter had to keep running OJ and Cookies to people so they would not faint so I went over to Chris and said get better and don't die and the Blood Lady says He is not going to die. I was really embarresed. Then we all went and visited Mrs. Carr (O know what you are thinking I did not see Barbie there but no This is Mr. Mo's mom) and She was really nice she was also doing fine. (I know you are thinking the same thing I am when will he just end this It's longger than the whole blog post.) So I am realy glad it was a big sucess, and I hope you feel better. And know that the Presbateryain Prayers are with you.

(p.s Chris is Barbie's Nephew and Lizzie's Bro)

  6. Hi Carrs --- I had no idea that you guys were going through all of this...I kept hearing (and saying) the announcement at St. Matthews masses for the blood / bone marrow drive, but I did not have any idea that Mac was the focus of that drive....I will be adding my prayers to the many that are already praying for all of you...I hope that Mac and you guys can feel the power of all those prayers in your heart...I will be keeping up with your blog now and will be available to help in any way you need...God bless, Terri North

  8. Hey everyone...thanks for the chance to stay connected with you guys on this blog. We so wish there was something more we could do (here in RI and with the family back in Jax) besides the prayers and wishes...can we all be tested on your behalf to see if our bone marrow matches?

We miss you guys and urge you to let us know if there are ways we can help with your struggles.
